The Denhart Mouth Gag offers a wide range of surgical advantages. Its principal use is to help the operator in obtaining maximum exposure of the oral surgical field.

For this purpose, the instrument features a pair of serrated, curved blades for atraumatically widening the mouth opening. In addition, the blades have angled curves to separate teeth and enlarge the sightline.

Moreover, the Denhart Mouth Gag features a lever-operated ratchet system. Furthermore, surgeons can manipulate the lever to adjust the degree of retraction and self-retain the instrument.
