El Periostótomo de Traquair ofrece un amplio margen de beneficios operatorios. Su función principal consiste en brindar una forma segura de despegar tejidos de los huesos y separar articulaciones delicadas.

Para este fin, el instrumento dos extremos, cada uno diseñado para manipular diferentes tipos de tejido. Por ejemplo, la punta roma es ideal para la mucosa, mientras la semiafilada sirve para despegar colgajos de periostio.
