The Obwegeser Mouth Gag offers a wide range of surgical benefits. Its principal use is to prevent mouth closure on sedated patients that cannot move their mandibular muscles.

For this purpose, the instrument features to parallel arms attached by a long screw. In addition, the upper arm can slide along the screw to permit the opening of the mouth. Also, the arms have outer ridges for interlocking teeth and ensure optimal fixation.

Moreover, the Obwegeser Mouth Gag features a screw-lock mechanism to adjust the width between the arms. Furthermore, surgeons can operate the system by rotating an oval handle with a finger depression that ensures comfort.
