The Obwegeser Maxillary Awl offers multiple surgical advantages. Its principal use is to suture wires in order to attach muscles or other structures to the maxillary or mandibular bone.

For this purpose, the instrument features a pointed tip that provides excellent access into small holes. In addition, the tip has an oval fenestration for guiding the wire across the surgical field while suturing. Also, its slightly curved design permits to perform surgery from different approaches.
