The Smith Ramus Separator offers multiple benefits. Its principal use is to control the division of the ramus during sagittal osteotomy procedures.

For this purpose, the instrument features interlocking jaws that follow the anatomy of the ramus, ensuring excellent separation. In addition, the jaws have inner serrations that permit surgeons to complete the division without hurting vessels and nerves.

Moreover, the Smith Ramus Separator features a plier grip style handle that ensures enhanced gripping. Furthermore, the handle’s stems have curves and a spring mechanism that facilitates the jaws opening action.
