El Osteótomo de Parkes ofrece beneficios excepcionales en cirugías de diversas áreas. Sin embargo, mayormente desempeña la función de seccionar estructuras óseas pertenecientes a la cavidad nasal.

Para lograrlo, el instrumento exhibe una hoja de doble bisel protegida por una defensa lateral. Además, el ancho de la hoja es de 5.0mm y, usando la defensa, el cirujano puede cortar huesos sin lesionar la mucosa. La superficie lisa de la defensa también contribuye a un deslizamiento suave del dispositivo.
