The O’Shaugnessy Dissecting and Ligature Forcep offers a wide range of surgical advantages. Its principal use is to dissect and grasp tissues, in order to pass the suture thread and tie vessels or other structures.

For this purpose, the instrument features a pair of slender jaws with a curve to manipulate vessels or organs. In addition, the fully-serrated surfaces of the jaws allow for clamping tissues without trauma.

Moreover, the O’Shaugnessy Dissecting and Ligature Forcep features a boxlock joint to perform smooth movements. Also, surgeons can self-retain the jaws at different levels of pressure using a ratchet between the shafts.
