For this purpose, the instrument features an L-shaped blade with a notched edge that faces the ramus borders. In addition, the blade is available in multiple lengths and widths that allow for retracting different mandible sizes.

Moreover, the Obwegeser Ramus Retractor features an ergonomic handle that enhances gripping. It has an upper finger ring and a teardrop fenestration to insert fingers and prevent slippage.
