The Murphy Retractor consists of a hook-type working end and a ringed handle. Also, the hook has a deep concave curve for adapting to narrow spaces.

In contrast, the retractor features three or four prongs. These prongs can be blunted or sharp, and the surgeon chooses according to the tissue being treated.

In addition, the retractor’s handle has a teardrop shape. Moreover, the ringed handle features side bars where the surgeon can rest his fingers and pull from different angles.
