Kirschner Extension Bows enable doctors to fix bone fractures properly in order to avoid malunions. Surgeons attach the bow to extension pins inserted into the bones. They need this to make a temporary fixation so that the fracture heals correctly.
Surgeons start by drilling screw pins in the distal segment of the fractured bone. Then, they attach the bow to these pins to keep the two sides of the fracture aligned. This is important to prevent wrong unions and deformities.
We make the Kirschner Extension Bows with a horseshoe frame. It has a small 18.5 cm pattern and a large 26.5 cm pattern for diverse patient groups. The bow has three holes for traction hooks. In addition, the two screw locks allow the attachment of extension pins.
You can use the thumb screw with flaring wings to open the arms of the bow to a wider distance. We also offer other devices like the Bohler Extension Bows to make traction systems that fit a wide variety of approaches. You can use these tools to suit every patient’s needs.
Instruments manufacture these devices from premium grade stainless steel that you can depend on for years of fine service.
