Gerster Traction Bars enable doctors to repair bone fractures properly and prevent bad unions. Surgeons use them with the Gerster-Lowman clamps to fix segments of bones in place as they place pins and screws. This facilitates aligning the proximal and distal segments of the bone so that the fracture heals correctly.

Therefore, we designed the Gerster Traction Bar with a long profile to increase its reach over long bones. It has a symmetrical T-shape, with a central bar and two lateral shafts.

The surgeon starts by applying two Gerster-Lowman Bone Holding clamps distal and proximal to a fracture edge. Each clamp has three claw-like jaws to stabilize the bones firmly. In addition, they have blunt outer surfaces to prevent damage to surrounding tissues. Tightening the two clamps stabilizes the bone fracture properly.

Then, the surgeon places the Gerster Traction Bar to connect and align the two bone holding clamps. This is important during plate fixation of multiple fractures.

We also offer other devices like the Kirschner Extension Bows to make traction systems that fit a wide variety of approaches. You can use these tools to suit every patient€™s needs.

Instruments manufacture these devices from premium grade stainless steel that you can depend on for years of fine service.
