The Durham Retractor consists of a hook-type blade and a teardrop handle. Moreover, the blade has a hollow design that enhances the vision of the surgical field.

Additionally, the blade features a concave curve. During abdominal surgery, the concave shape adapts to the intestines underneath the subcutaneous tissue.

In contrast, the handle has a fenestrated design with outer lateral serrations. This feature secures a firm grip and avoids slippage.
