Bohler Extension Bows enable doctors to treat bone fractures properly and prevent bad unions. Surgeons attach the bow to extension pins inserted into the bones. They need this to make traction systems so that the fracture heals correctly.
Surgeons start by drilling screw pins in the distal segment of the fractured bone. Then, they attach the bow to these pins to keep the two sides of the fracture aligned. This is important to prevent wrong unions and deformities. Therefore, we designed the bow’s wire frame with a long profile to increase its reach.
After that, the surgeon places the bow on a stirrup. The stirrup should rotate freely on its swivels and often requires lubrication.
We made the symmetrical frame with two screw locks to hold and stabilize the bow in place. In addition, they have smooth ergonomic curves that conform to the shape of upper and lower limbs.
We make the Bohler Extension Bows for both upper and lower limb fractures. They are available with two sizes ranging from 210 x 150 mm and 210 x 110 mm for femur and knee fractures. In addition, they are available with a size of 160 x 90 mm for arm fractures.
We also offer other devices like the Kirschner Extension Bows to make traction systems that fit a wide variety of approaches. You can use these tools to suit every patient’s needs.
Instruments manufacture these devices from premium grade stainless steel that you can depend on for years of fine service.
